Celebrate In Illinois At Carlyle Lake’s 50th Anniversary

Come help Clinton County, Illinois, celebrate one of its greatest features at Carlyle Lake’s 50th Anniversary celebration, June 9-11, 2017.

It’s hard to imagine our area without Carlyle Lake; it’s become a part of so many family activities over the years. The idea of the lake was conceived in the early 1930’s as a solution to frequent flooding of the Kaskaskia River. After the Army Corps of Engineers compiled a comprehensive plan, the Carlyle, and Shelbyville Reservoir Projects were given the go-ahead by Congress in 1958. Now Carlyle Lake and shore area is a mainstay of activity; in summer with boating, swimming, camping; and year-round for fishing, hiking, and biking.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration will feature a wide range of activities, offering a little something for everyone. We’ve listed a few of the scheduled events below, but be sure and check the Clinton County website for a complete listing of all the activities, plus the latest up-to-date information.
