Calling all hearty souls! The Polar Bear Plunge will take place February 25, 2017 at Carlyle Lake.
This annual event, presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run and GEICO, encourages entrants to voluntarily shed warm clothes and leap into a frigid Carlyle Lake. It’s all for a good cause: supporting Special Olympics athletes.
To be eligible to take the plunge, all entrants must first raise $100 in donations from family, friends, and co-workers. Plungers will be awarded incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise. Everyone who raises the minimum $100, will receive an official Plunge hooded sweatshirt. Other prizes will be awarded at the $250, $500, and $1000 levels.
In conjunction with the Polar Bear Plunge, there will also be a 5K Polar Donut Dash. If you love donuts, this is the race for you! Runners will find donut stops along the trail, and for each donut they eat, they will get one minute deducted from they entire race time. The more donuts, the lower the time. Sweet, right?
