Twelve Oaks Vineyard Opens In Clinton County, IL

Clinton County is becoming quite a little hotbed of wine, with five wineries now gracing our area. The newest venture is Twelve Oaks Vineyard, a family-owned business located in the beautiful countryside outside of Carlyle, Illinois.

True to its name, you’ll find lovely trees on the Twelve Oaks property, as well as acres of vineyard where the family grows the various grapes for their lineup of wines, which include both reds and whites.

The red selection includes Chambourcin, from the Southern Illinois grape of the same name, which is a smooth oaky wine with hints of blackberry, cherry, plum and spices. Norton, full-bodied with a smooth finish, offers flavors of ripe raspberries.

Whites include crisp Vignoles, a semi-sweet wine bursting with citrus, pineapple, and apricot flavors. Cayuga White is ripe with fruity flavors of peach, melon and apricot. Blending both red and white grapes, Hummingbird Dance is as charming as its name, a sweet blush that is perfect for warm summer evenings.

Twelve Oaks Vineyard is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday and Monday through Friday by appointment. Take a drive out to visit and enjoy a taste or two as well. It’s the perfect way to unwind on the weekend!
