Sure it’s fun when the members of the Breese Junior Women’s Group gets together. But the real reason they gather is simple: they want to help make the community a better place.
The Breese Junior Women’s Group is a non-profit, social and service organization that’s comprised of women from Breese, Illinois, and the surrounding area, and it has been meeting for more than 30 years. Its main focus is on children and families and while residents might not always be aware of just what the group does, chances are you’ve attended one or more of the events it plans.
Throughout the year, the Women’s Group organizes a variety of activities that have become a tradition in the town, including the Breese Halloween Parade, Spring and Fall Story Hour, Tea Party, Munch with Santa, Touch-a-Truck, Easter Baskets to the homebound, and the Needy Family Project.
A popular spring activity is the Capes and Gowns event for kids. Coming in March (the date and location are still to be determined), this event gives kids a chance to dress up as their favorite hero or princess and enjoy an afternoon of fun. Any profits remaining after the group has paid expenses for this or any other event is turned back in to the community.
Take a look at the Breese Junior Women’s Group Facebook page and you’ll get an idea of how these inspiring ladies stay busy doing good deeds in the area. We’re sure glad they do.
The Breese Junior Women’s Group is a great representation of what life in Clinton County is all about—family and community!
