Spring Gets Musical In Clinton County, Illinois

Music will fill the air in Clinton County, Illinois, this spring, thanks to concerts at the high schools and a rousing play at the Clinton County Showcase. Grab your calendar and mark down these dates—the shows are always delightful and something the entire family will enjoy.

Our high schools are filled with talented students and the annual spring performances are their time to shine. On March 8, 2018, Trenton’s Wesclin High School band will be heading to Mater Dei Catholic High School in Breese for the Clinton County Band Festival. The combined performance is always a popular event for the community.

Later in spring, Wesclin High School will showcase their concert band in concert on Sunday, May 6, and their jazz band the following Friday, May 11.

The first weekend in April is when Mater Dei Catholic High School in Breese presents its annual musical. This year, the students are staging Oliver. Based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, it tells the story of the young orphan Oliver as he maneuvers through London’s seedier side in search of love and a home.

You can enjoy more musical fun at the Clinton County Showcase with this spring’s performance of Church Basement Ladies. Billed as a “heavenly new musical comedy,” this rollicking story focuses on the ladies who work in the basement cooking for church functions— a subject so many of us can relate to!
