D&M Farms is located in Breese, Illinois;
the D&M was intended for ‘Dave & Megan’
although Megan has always believed it stands
for ‘Dad & Me’!
Dave is the 4th generation on the family
farm and Megan is the 5th generation. From
growing up on the farm, Megan will
be attending University of Illinois to study
Animal Sciences, specifically Animal
Nutrition, while ‘Dad’ stays home to take
care of the cows, sheep, goats and pigs!
The ‘From Our Farm to Your Family’s
Table’ business model now in place at D&M
Farms started from a simple essay (to win
a show lamb) written by Megan at the age of
8. What harm could come from that – she
surely wouldn’t win – right? Well, she did
win the lamb and then she won first place
and championship medals at county and state
show competitions that same year.
Lambs and goats at the farm were show
animals then but a couple years ago Dave &
Megan started raising the animals for meat
Lamb and Goat meat has grown in
popularity in the last few years as a
healthier meat option; it is high in protein
with fewer calories, with lots of nutritional
benefits as well (high in protein, lower
calories and it’s loaded with B vitamins)!
It has become a staple item in the family’s
personal diet so offering it as ‘From our
Farm to Your Family’ seemed a logical next
In the summer of 2017, D&M Farms
began offering their products at local
Farmer’s Markets and have since expanded to
wholesale distributors and restaurants.
D&M Farms’ lamb is now a feature and
special menu item at 5 of the Top 100
Restaurants in St. Louis and 4 of the Top
Madison and Clinton County restaurants!
The new addition to the product offerings
is whey-fed Red Wattle pork! It’s buttery
and really YUMMY! We are happy to provide
retail and wholesale pricing upon request!
