Lucy and Ethel have nothing on us down here in Clinton County! Head to the Roundhouse Wine Company Grape Stomp in Centralia, Illinois, on Saturday, August 27, 2016, and you can be stomping grapes just like those comedic ladies.
Visitors are encouraged to dress in their best grape-stomping attire, no shoes required! Prizes will awarded for best-dressed team, the most juice produced, and the stomper who comes from the longest distance. They are tasty prizes too: the most-juice winner receives a case of Roundhouse wine of their choice; other winners receive six bottles each. If you’d like to do some stomping, you’ll need to sign up ahead of time; an entry form is on the Roundhouse website.
In addition to the grape stomping, the event will include a vendor and craft fair from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and live music with the Blackjack Mulligan Band in the evening. Food will also be available throughout the day—and of course, there will be plenty of wine for sipping. Roundhouse makes a great selection of wines, including favorites such as the semi-sweet Little Caboose Red and a refreshing Petticoat Blush.
