Governor’s Run Golf Club: Clinton County’s Premier Course

Whether you’re a Sunday duffer or a diehard golfer, it’s always a treat to tee up at Governor’s Run Golf Club in Carlyle, Illinois. The semi-private 18-hole championship course has a wonderful mix of prairie and woodlands, creeks and lakes—all adding up to a one of Southern Illinois’ top courses.18th hole at the golf club showing green fairway and small pond

Governor’s Run Golf Club sits between creek tributaries of the Kaskaskia River, and the setting not only makes it a lovely place to play, but offers challenging fairways and greens. The front nine is carved out through native prairie that is strewn with lakes, while the back nine winds through woods and over creeks (18th hole shown). That all adds up to one fun 18-hole course. Add in occasional breezes off Carlyle Lake and you’ve got yourself a great day of golf!

In addition to the course, Governor’s Run has a full practice facility that includes putting and chipping greens and a practice range. There’s also a full service Pro Shop manned by a helpful staff.

New this spring, A Fine Swine BBQ will be taking over what was previously the Bar & Grille. Look for the full service restaurant to be dishing up all its favorites. The facility will also be available for private events, luncheons and weddings.

Governor’s Run Golf Club is open year-round, seven days a week and open to visitors. It offers memberships for individuals, families, family groups and players clubs.
